It is not unusual to find that millions of Grupo Mayan suns worshipping people flocking yearly towards Playa del Carmen to escape from the cold weather or to get a break from work related pressures. This trip becomes a serious relaxation and rest expedition. As anyone who has made the trip previously knows, the major area attractions are mostly the sandy white beaches, the clear crystalline water, the tropical warm weather and the easy laid-back attitude often associated with the Caribbean.
The weather in this Grupo Mayan area is of course semi-tropical having its average temperature being about 80° degrees, which can easily rise to over 100° degrees in the peek summer months. The first of June is the official start for the hurricane season and it ends at the end of November. The months of November to April are considered the high season here where it is sunny and hot during the daytime but becomes breezy and cool at night.
From February to May the months are beautiful in this area. The Caribbean Sea remains clear and calm with water temperatures gradually rising as summertime approaches. With the approach of warmer waters in the month of May the jellyfish begin to make their way to the shores. At the approach of may the nights may still be a bit cool however a sweater would rarely be needed.
During its summer months of June to August, the humidity tends to rise so the afternoons become hot and steamy. During this time it is highly recommended that Grupo Mayan guests remain close to a source of water. There may be some slight rainfall in the late afternoons and early evenings however it rarely will last long. The evenings will not get any cooler so it is recommended to use a good fan and an air conditioner in order to get a good nights sleep.
Grupo Mayan visitors have stated that September and October generally are considered the peek time for tropical storm and hurricane season. They also receive an adequate quantity of rain between these particular months, however it does not rain every single day. It remains humid and hot with the evenings and the days maintaining similar temperature ranges.
November to January are usually the coolest of the months in the area, meaning it is sunny, and warm during the daytime and breezy and cool in the evenings. While rain is a very rare occurrence this time of the year the evenings can usually bring temperatures, raising to the high 60’s so a sweater may be recommended for Grupo Mayan guests.
